This inventory is targeted to Aboriginal persons who will self-declare as an Aboriginal person.

An Aboriginal person is a North American Indian or a member of a First Nation, Métis or Inuit. North American Indians or members of a First Nation include treaty, status or registered Indians, as well as on-status and non-registered Indians.

The Aboriginal affiliation will be verified at the time of the appointment.

Intent of the process

This process aims to create and maintain an inventory of Aboriginal persons for casual, indeterminate or term appointment within Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada and Indigenous Services Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

CR: Successful completion of two years of secondary school or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).

Note 1: The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:

- A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or

- An acceptable combination of training and experience*.

*This combination will include two years cumulative experience providing clerical functions or customer service (this could include, but is not limited to: data entry, filing, answering telephone calls, preparing written correspondence, providing assistance to customers, serving the public).

In addition, if you have training other than high school, this may also be considered for education.

AS: A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 2).

Note 2: The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:

- A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or

- An acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

*This combination will include your successful completion of secondary 4 or grade 11 in addition to two years cumulative experience providing clerical functions or customer service (this could include, but is not limited to: data entry, filing, answering telephone calls, preparing written correspondence, providing assistance to customers, serving the public).

In addition, if you have training other than high school, this may also be considered for education.

Hiring managers will make their random selection by selecting the criteria required for their positions to be staffed.

Experience providing administrative support services*.

*Administrative support services is defined as, for example, but not limited to: managing agendas, scheduling and organizing meetings/teleconferences, preparing and collating meeting file folders and background materials, procuring office equipment and supplies, maintaining a filing system, and other related duties.

Experience in organizing travel arrangements or verify travel claims.

Experience using databases for the purpose of data analysis, manipulation, verification and retrieval.

Experience in the preparation of reports.

Experience using Microsoft applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel or Outlook).

Experience in using a financial system.

Experience in providing budget or financial support services.

Experience in human resources support services.

Experience in researching and analysing information.

Experience in developing options or recommendations.

Experience in providing customer services. (This could include, but is not limited to: answering telephone calls, providing assistance to customers, serving the public, etc.).

A post-secondary school diploma in a field relevant to the position being staffed.

Experience in dealing with senior officials (i.e. Director or above) within the federal government.

Experience in managing a document tracking system such as CCM Enterprise, CCM Mercury, etc.

Experience in providing advice to managers on finance.

Experience in using a financial system such as Systems, Applications and Products (SAP).

Experience using a Human Resources information management system such as PeopleSoft 8.9.

Experience preparing and delivering training or presentations.

Experience in providing services to or working with First Nations, Inuit or Metis.
