OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
With a view to ensuring a first-class client experience, the assistant director / senior advisor, together with a team of advisors under his or her supervision, is responsible for a client/partner portfolio, and for overseeing the development of projects in co operation with partners in the region.
Main responsibilities:
• Provide guidance for advisors regarding projects and funding applications to ensure their alignment with investment priorities.
• Review and provide quality assurance for project portfolio transactions (analyses, payments, monitoring, etc.).
• Assume responsibility for the engagement and supervision of a team of advisors, including development and performance management, and for adequate work distribution to ensure effective client service.
• Support the director in the management of the annual budgets.
• Assume responsibility for maintaining a spirit of innovation and the continuous improvement of practices.
• Represent CED in dealings with regional partners and businesses in order to proactively support the economic development of the region.
• Assist in the preparation of recommendations for CED’s highest authorities, in the form of quality analysis documents containing numerous elements to be taken into consideration, including the regional and operational reality.
The objective of this process is fill three positions on a permanent basis: one at the Centre-du-Québec Business Office in Drummondville, one at the Cantons-de-l’Est Business Office in Sherbrooke, and one in the Gaspésie and Iles-de-la-Madeleine Business Office in Gaspé. A pool of candidates may be created further to this appointment process and used to fill similar positions on a temporary and/or permanent basis in these regions.

ESSENTIAL QUALFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a specialization in business administration, commerce, economics, finance or regional development, or an acceptable combination of education, training and position-related experience.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Recent and significant experience* in analyzing the financial data of businesses, non-profit organizations or aboriginal organizations with a view on making recommendations.
2. Experience in supervising or coordinating the activities of a team.
3. Recent and significant experience* in managing financial resources (such as an operating budget, grants and contribution budget, loan portfolio).
*Recent and significant experience is defined as a depth, breadth and variety of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, acquired over a period of at least one year within the last five years.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
• Master’s degree from a recognized university with a specialization in a position-related field.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in delivering a government economic program or in managing regional, industrial, sectoral or market economic development activities or initiatives.
• Experience in participating in working committees with other partners for the implementation of programs or initiatives.
• In-depth human resource management experience.
KNOWLEDGE:
• For the position in Gaspé: Knowledge of regional economic development issues in Quebec and its regions, and specifically those facing the Gaspésie and Îles-de-la-Madeleine regions.
• For the position in Sherbrooke: Knowledge of regional economic development issues in Quebec and its regions, and specifically those facing the Cantons de l’Est region, namely Estrie and MRC Haute-Yamaska and Brome-Missisquoi in Montérégie.
• For the position in Drummondville: Knowledge of regional economic development issues in Quebec and its regions, and specifically those facing the Centre-du-Québec and Montérégie-Est region.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Willingness to travel
• Available to work overtime, at short notice
• Holds a valid driver’s licence
