As an analyst for Transport Canada’s Environment team, you will mainly be asked to prepare and/or participate in the preparation of environmental assessments done under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act including the evaluation of designated projects led by the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency. These assessments will pertain to a variety of projects, but with an emphasis on airport and port related projects. Beside this main task, you will also be called on to prepare project authorization requests under the Fisheries Act, prepare fauna and flora inventory Terms of Reference and ensure the enforcement of the Species at Risk Act and the Federal Policy on Wetland Conservation on TC-owned lands. All this in a dynamic and multidisciplinary teamwork environment both within TC and other federal departments.

EDUCATION:
Diploma from a recognized university with an acceptable specialization in environmental science, environmental studies, ecology, biology, chemistry, geology, environmental engineering or any other science field pertaining to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE:
• Significant* experience in preparing and writing environmental assessments and/or environmental impact studies in the context of regulatory process.
• Experience to coordinate the realization of environmental assessments and/or environmental impact studies as a project manager.
*Minimum 2 years of pertinent experience obtained within the last 5 years.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)

• Knowledge of the environmental protection acts, regulations, policies and standards in Quebec and Canada.
• Knowledge of environmental assessment’s regulatory regimes applicable to Quebec region.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience conducting environmental assessments for projects in accordance with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA).
• Experience preparing requests for proposals.
• Experience preparing requests for project review and authorization under article 35 2)(b) of the Fisheries Act.
• Experience implementing the Federal Policy on Wetland Conservation.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of criteria triggering a legal duty to consult Indigenous Peoples within federal departments and agencies.
