Here are examples of the Key Activities linked to this position:
- Maintains, inspects, repairs, modifies all fixed wing aircraft, systems, components, airframe and engines including the airworthiness certification release of the complete aircraft for return to service when work is completed.
- Carries out scheduled inspections and maintenance as scheduled by a Computerized Aircraft Maintenance System on fixed wing aircraft as prescribed by the Canadian Aviation Regulations and Standards and the manufacturers' requirements.
- Carries out unscheduled maintenance, component changes and special inspections on fixed wing aircraft as a result of system inspection/performance failures, incidents (i.e. heavy landing, lightning strike, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins) or malfunctions reported by flight crews or technicians.

Transport Canada’s Aircraft Services Directorate is seeking Aircraft Maintenance Engineers – Fixed Wing who are dependable, committed and passionate about their work – people just like you!
This process may be used to establish a fully qualified pool of candidates that may be used to fill similar or identical positions with various tenures (Indeterminate and/or Specified Period) depending on the position being staffed.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of a recognized post secondary school program in aircraft maintenance.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Possession of a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License, Category M1 and/or M2.
EXPERIENCE:
Three years of recent* experience as a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, category M1 and/ or M2, maintaining fixed wing aircraft.
*Recent is defined as within the last four years.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
Maintenance type training and/or experience maintaining the following aircraft:
- King Air Series
- Cessna Citation II
- Bombardier Dash 8 - 100/200/300
Secret security clearance
- Possession of a valid driver’s licence.
- Possession of a valid Canadian Passport.
- Willing and able to travel within and outside Canada.
- Willing and able to work shifts and overtime on short notice during the week or on weekends.
- Willing and able to perform work in various positions on aircraft and in the hangar, which may involve standing, kneeling, lying and sitting as well as crawling into confined spaces and climbing elevated maintenance stands.
- Willing and capable to travel for extended periods up to 4 weeks at a time.
