Work environment

The work is being performed in a police detachment environment. This results in occasional exposure to intoxicated, mentally unstable, hostile and potentially violent individuals to victims of crime or relatives of accident victims who may be distraught. The work is performed in an open office environment. It involves tight deadlines, time pressures, frequent interruptions, conflicting priorities and multiple demands from staff, callers and visitors.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill 1 term position.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar term and/or permanent positions.

Experience performing general clerical duties.

Experience in providing assistance to the public, customers, or clients.

Experience working in a policing environment.

Experience communicating in Inuktitut.

The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status. The candidate must not have a Criminal Record. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

In the spirit of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement (NLCA), and in accordance with obligation under the RCMP Inuit Employment Plan, preference will be given to beneficiaries of this Agreement. We encourage applicants to self-identify.

Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement (e.g. Beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement) who are found qualified in this staffing process will be appointed ahead of other qualified applicants.
Applicants will be considered in the following order:
(1) Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement (e.g. Beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement);
(2) If there are no qualified Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement, all other applicants will be considered for these positions.
