Duties

Medical Adjudicators are registered nurses who review and analyze client applications for Canada Pension Plan Disability benefits to determine whether the client is eligible for benefits. Service Canada’s medical adjudicators are trained nurses drawn from all nursing specialties with extensive knowledge of CPP legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.

Medical adjudicators are provided with in depth training with ongoing support as required. The positions are located in different cities across Canada. Successful applicants will be required to regularly use their written and oral communication skills, and work in an office environment.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Graduation by June 30, 2019, with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in Nursing, Nursing Service Administration, Nursing Education or some other specialization relevant to the position.

*A degree is defined as a baccalaureate as established by educational institutions, or a degree at a higher level than a baccalaureate.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Registered, at the time of appointment, as a registered nurse (RN) in the province or territory where you work, or will work, and be a member in good standing in that province or territory, as well as be willing and eligible to register, at the time of appointment, in the province or territory of the location where the position will be staffed.

AND

Entitled, at the time of appointment, to practice with no restrictions.

Note: Candidates must maintain this occupational certification throughout their public service employment.

EXPERIENCE:
Experience in clinical settings; or long term care settings or rehabilitation settings; or public health; or home care; or other experience relevant to the position.

EXPERIENCES:

Experience in specialized nursing in areas such as psychiatric, medical surgical, oncology, neurological, medical rehabilitation or palliative care;

Adjudication experience with Canada Pension Plan Disability, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), Veterans Affairs, private insurers, or other medically-based disability programs.
