Fisheries and Oceans Canada is responsible for policies and programs in support of Canada's economic, ecological and scientific interests in oceans and inland waters; for the conservation and sustainable utilization of Canada's fisheries resources in marine and inland waters; for leading and facilitating federal policies and programs on oceans; and for safe, effective and environmentally sound marine services responsive to the needs of Canadians in a global economy.
This is a full-time term position; however, a pool of qualified candidates will be established through this staffing process and may be used to staff similar positions with different tenures (i.e. on a term or indeterminate basis) in the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in civil engineering, or other engineering specialty relevant to the requirements of the position.
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada OR registered as an engineer in training in Canada (candidate must be registered prior to appointment).
The term "eligibility" for certification or membership in a professional association means that a candidate has met all academic and occupational requirements with respect to degrees, examinations, experience, etc. without having to have obtained or maintained actual registration, certification or membership.
*Recent experience is understood to mean within the past three (3) years.
Recent* experience working in a multidisciplinary design environment related to construction and maintenance of infrastructure. Candidate must have had responsibility for at least 2 of the following (engineering design calculations, construction drawings, writing of technical specifications, cost estimates).
Recent* experience in contract administration and managing technical consultants and contractors.
Experience in evaluating engineering reports, analyzing results and recommending implementation options in support of infrastructure investment or rehabilitation initiatives.
Experience in Project Management.
Experience in the use of AutoCAD.
Experience in providing technical advice and recommendations to senior engineers on engineering issues.
Experience in consulting with external stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
Experience in the design, construction, rehabilitation, repair, and maintenance of harbour structures, or experience in a field of engineering which would contribute to the conduct of these activities.
Experience in leading design projects in a civil engineering environment.
Experience in the inspection of civil infrastructure.
Experience managing construction projects related to marine structures.
Experience conducting environmental assessments related to construction projects.
Experience conducting topographic surveys with GPS survey equipment.
Experience conducting bathymetric surveys.
Experience in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
