A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions on a permanent or temporary basis in the Canadian Coast Guard, Atlantic Region.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
• Secondary school diploma (high school) or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Occupational Certification:
• Possession of a valid Inter-Provincial Journeyman Certification in one of the following trades: Heavy Duty Automotive Mechanic or 4th Class Marine Engineer or higher.

Experience:
• Experience in the provision of maintenance work and assistance to different trades involved in the installation and maintenance of equipment and systems.
• Experience working in an industrial operational environment in the last 12 months. This is defined as an operational site where multi-trades are working simultaneously.
• Experience in field/remote site operations.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Occupational Certification:
• Valid fall protection certificate or rope access certification
• Valid Marine Radio Operator’s License
• Valid WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate
• Certificate of scaffolding assembly
• Current, valid first aid certificate

Experience:
• Experience in working with helicopters for transportation, construction activities, or logistic support.

• Knowledge of safety procedures and equipment that apply at a work site.
• Knowledge of Personal Protective equipment used in an industrial operations environment.

• Ability to diagnose and complete effective repairs to diesel/gasoline equipment.
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to operate a computer using MS office software (such as Word, Outlook and Internet Explorer).

• Valid Provincial Class 5 Driver’s License
• Requirement to climb towers and work at heights in excess of 2.4m
• Requirement to travel for extended periods of time to remote sites via trucks, boats, UTVs and aircraft
• Requirement to work weekends/overtime and travel on short notice
• Requirement to access remote sites over rugged terrain and work outdoors in
extremes of environmental conditions
