Intent of the process

A pool of (fully or partially qualified) candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Economics, sociology or statistics.

Notes:
1. Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
2. An indeterminate incumbent of a former ES position on June 30, 1967 who became an EC on June 22, 2009, who does not possess the minimum level of education as indicated for Part A above is deemed to meet this minimum educational standard based on his/her education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience in planning and conducting applied economic analyses related to the management of an invasive alien species.
Experience in planning and conducting applied economic and statistical analyses of survey data.
Experience in the preparation of scientific journal papers, reports, presentations and/or discussion papers.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of the BC and Canadian forest sectors and current challenges facing the sectors.
• Knowledge of micro-economic theory.
• Knowledge of the methods and software for optimization modelling development.
• Knowledge of the methods and software for statistical and econometric analysis.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis of survey data.

Abilities:
• Ability to plan, organize and conduct quantitative economic studies.
• Ability to analyze and synthesize information to produce research reports
• Ability to communicate effectively orally
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
