This advertisement will be used to create a pool from which to hire apprentices.
Apprenticeships are usually four years in duration. The Apprenticing Program trains workers to a high level of certification. Upon successful completion apprentices are entitled to the Fleet Maintenance Facility Cape Breton (FMF CB) Certificate of Apprenticeship; the Provincial Journeyperson's Certificate (where applicable); and Inter- Provincial Certification (where applicable).

Your résumé.
Education:
-Successful completion of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training, or experience. (See notes)
-Successful completion of Entry-Level Trade Training (ELTT), Foundations Training, in the metal fabrication trade, or equivalent (Equivalency includes metal fabrication entry level pre-apprenticeship, or acceptable experience working in a metal fabrication shop)
Note: acceptable experience working in a metal fabrication shop is defined as experience normally acquired over a period of 6 months.
Experience:
-Autocad, or similar drawing program experience
-Drafting experience
-Marine Industry experience
-Computer Numerical Control (CNC) experience
-Welding, burning, and/or plasma cutting experience
-Forklift experience
English essential
Information on language requirements
Knowledge:
-Knowledge of basic metal trade topics
-Knowledge of safety practices and procedures within an industrial environment
Abilities:
-Ability to read and comprehend applicable trade-related information
-Ability to communicate effectively
-Ability to demonstrate basic proficiency in the handling of tools used in the trade

Reliability Status security clearance - Condition(s) of Employment:
-Willing and able to work shifts and overtime
-Willing and able to climb vertical ladders up to 10 meters, and work off staging
-Willing and able to lift and carry a 25 kg load for 50 meters
-Willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment
-Willing and able to work in confined spaces and conduct sea trials on naval vessels
-Eligibility to register with BC Industry Training Authority as a Metal Fabricator apprentice.
