We are looking for a Communications Advisor who would be responsible for a variety of communications services, including support for:
• media relations;
• social media;
• writing;
• implementation of communications and outreach strategies; and
• other communications activities as required.
Our Communications team is small but mighty, so there is great potential to expand or gain experience in a variety of areas. The ideal candidate would be interested in developing skills in a broad range of communications activities.

The immediate need is to staff one (1) term position for a period up to 6 months. Indeterminate opportunities are anticipatory.
A pool of qualified candidates will be created and used to fill identical or similar positions. These positions may be staffed permanently or temporarily. Various linguistic profiles requirement as well as tenures and/or security clearance may vary according to the position being staffed. Should the selected candidate already be a public servant, the pool could also be used for acting appointments.

Education:
• A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Note: Incumbents of IS positions who do not possess the formal education prescribed are deemed to meet the university graduation standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever a bachelor's degree without any specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.
Experience:
• Experience in developing and/or implementing communications plans.
• Experience in researching, writing and editing, including news releases, backgrounders, brochures, publications, articles, speeches, key messages and/or media lines.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of social media tools
• Knowledge of Yukon Territory including its cultures and specialized information requirements.

Education:
• A degree from a recognized university in journalism, mass media, communications or public affairs.
Experience:
• Experience working in one of Canada’s three territories.
• Experience working with Indigenous organizations and governments.
• Experience with the design and layout of communications products such as brochures and publications.
• Experience in developing, editing and adapting communications products to Web media
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of Yukon media and media relations strategies
• Knowledge of Yukon organizations, governments and issues
