In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Bachelor degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in biology, physics, geology, chemistry, engineering, forestry, environmental science or some other science relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Experience in Lifecycle Management of Hazardous Materials.
Experience in providing advice and guidance on critical issues.
Experience in researching and applying federal legislation, regulations, codes, standards and best practices related to Hazardous Materials Management, Health and Safety or Environmental Management.
Experience in the preparation of background materials, reports and briefing notes, explaining emerging issues and activities and their impacts.
Experience in consulting with other subject matter experts and government representatives.
Experience in the development and presentation of training on hazardous materials, health and safety or environmentally related topics.
Experience conducting inspections, audits and management reviews in the areas of Hazardous Materials Management, Occupational Health and General Safety or Environmental Management.

EXPERIENCE (ASSET):
Experience with Pollution Prevention and/or Spill Response.
Experience in financial management.

Knowledge of Federal and Provincial Hazardous Materials, Health and Safety or Environmental regulations, publications and programs.
Knowledge of WHMIS regulations.
Knowledge of federal government departments and their responsibilities respecting hazardous material management and reporting requirements.

ABILITIES:
Ability to provide advice and guidance on Hazardous Materials related issues.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to prioritize and schedule work.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and legislation.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Enhanced Reliability.
A valid DND 404 Operator’s Permit.
Must be willing and able to be available for afterhours emergencies.
Must be willing and able to work overtime, as pre-authorized, including the occasional weekend.
Must be willing and able to travel through Atlantic Canada.
