Duties

-Manages and maintains the national quality assurance program for scientific disciplines in a local laboratory including the use of Quality Assurance Management System Software
-Audits standardization of case-related data in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and ensures data integrity
-Provides quality related advice and guidance to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards and maintenance of the laboratory’s accreditation status
-Develops and maintains Quality Assurance Branch documents such as standard operating procedures (SOPs) and manuals. Provides oversight and ensures compliance for discipline related documentation
-Provides oversight and ensures compliance for proficiency testing
-Recommends changes and identifies improvements to the national quality assurance program
-Ensures that issues and trends identified in client service are addressed

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of English essential and an RCMP Enhanced Reliability security clearance

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP across Canada on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Notification regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

A diploma from a recognized Canadian post-secondary educational institute in one of the following disciplines: Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Technology, Toxicology, or in another forensic science related discipline.

Degree equivalency

Extensive* experience as a qualified forensic examiner/technologist, laboratory scientist, laboratory technologist, or laboratory technician

Experience** working in an accredited laboratory

Experience** in at least one of the following: conducting quality audits, validating methods of analysis, preparing quality documentation, or establishing traceability of reference materials

*Extensive experience is defined as at least five years
**Experience is defined as at least two years.
