In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of secondary school OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Degree equivalency

Possess a valid Alberta or Interprovincial Journeyman’s Certificate in one of the following trades: Plumbing, Millwright, Carpentry Electrical or HVAC.

Experience in the operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment in support of institution with mechanical, electrical, fire protection and energy management systems.
Experience in the maintenance and repair of pumps and ventilation equipment.
Experience in light construction or renovations or drywall or repairs or painting or flooring repairs or general labour.
Experience in the safe operation and repair of a variety of a variety of shop tools such as welding and pipe threading machines or band or table or chop saws or drill press.

Information on language requirements

Knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of refrigeration units or auxiliary pumps or re-circulation systems or electric motors or HVAX auxiliary equipment.
Knowledge of the applicable preventative maintenance procedures of mechanical systems.

Ability to perform running maintenance, minor repair and troubleshoot various types of equipment such as fan, pumps and controls.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.

Experience with low pressure steam boilers and steam sterilizing units.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Willing and able to work overtime including weekends occasionally.
Willing and able to perform scheduled stand-by duty.
Must be comfortable working in tight, cramped and/or confined spaces.
Willing and able to lift 25 Kg (50 lbs).
Must be comfortable working on ladders and at heights.
Possess an Alberta valid driver’s license.
