Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates will be created and used to fill identical or similar positions with varying language requirements (French essential and bilingual imperative, BBB/BBB) and various security requirements within the Department of Transport. These positions may be staffed permanently or temporarily. Should the selected candidate already be a public servant, the pool could also be used for acting appointments.

EDUCATION
• ED1: The successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary program in computer science, information technology, information management or other field related to the position to be filled.

Notes:
1. Indeterminate incumbents in the CS Group at May 10, 1999, who do not have the minimum education prescribed above, meet the minimum prescribed by education, training and/or experience. It follows that they must be recognized as having met the minimum educational standard prescribed above, when required, for any subsequent appointment to CS positions.
2. It is the responsibility of recognized educational institutions (e.g., community college, CÉGEP or university) to determine whether the courses taken by the candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
• EX1: Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and upgrading hardware and software in a Microsoft environment and for a large organization*.
• EX2: Experience providing on-site and/or telephone information technology (IT) support services to clients in a formal capacity (e.g., as a member of an IT team providing on-site support; a service centre, etc.).
• EX3: Experience in providing advice to clients on IT matters.

*“Large Organization” means a multidisciplinary organization usually composed of more than 200 employees.

• Be able and willing to work occasionally outside normal working hours and weekends.

• The job requires transporting, lifting and setting down equipment that can weigh up to 20kg.
