Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this process is to staff 1 position on a term basis (and may be extended based on operational requirements), in Courtenay, BC and 1 position, in Nanaimo, BC. This process may be used to staff similar positions in various locations of various tenures.

EDUCATION:
Graduation from a recognized school of veterinary medicine.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
- Eligibility for membership in a Canadian veterinary association.

EXPERIENCE:
- Experience conducting necropsies, disease investigations/health checks and sample collection on finfish.
- Experience in production animal medicine, including the evaluation or design of biosecurity and health management protocols.
- Experience managing data effectively, and performing basic analysis.
- Experience interpreting and applying field observations, test results, and gross and histo- pathology to diagnose the presence or absence of disease.

- Experience in the management of human and financial resources (VM-03 only)

EDUCATION:
- A graduate degree in epidemiology

EXPERIENCE:
- Experience providing veterinary services for salmonids.
- Experience working in a regulatory capacity.
- Experience in veterinary pathology, epidemiology or other specialized field of veterinary medicine

- Knowledge of governing legislation and regulations in aquatic animal health
