Intent of the process

The intent of this appointment process is to establish a fully assessed pool of qualified candidates. The immediate use of the pool will be to staff three (3) indeterminate positions in Ottawa, Peterborough and Toronto. However, the results of this process may be used to staff similar or identical positions for future vacancies of various tenures in various locations within Public Services and Procurement Canada in the Ontario Region.

Your résumé.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Canada in Civil/Structural Engineering or similar

Degree equivalency

Recent* and significant** experience in Civil Engineering construction projects, specifically:

- In planning and managing various phases of heavy civil projects such as bridges, wharves, dredging, breakwaters, and/or buildings, with varying degrees of *** complexity and magnitude.
- In reviewing drawings and specifications for construction projects.

Definitions:

Experience is defined as work-related experience acquired in the identified field following graduation.

*Recent is defined as within the five (5) years immediately prior to the closing date of this job opportunity advertisement.

** Significant is defined as the complexity and diversity of work which would normally be acquired over a period of approximately 4 years where the candidate progressively performed various roles in the planning and management of construction projects.

***Complexity is viewed in terms of risk. Candidates are expected to demonstrate experience in the management of complex projects with at least one (1) risk factor, for example: high technical difficulty, projects implemented in secure facilities (e.g. correctional facilities with restrictions for access by construction crew), high stakeholder and media interest, stringent regulatory compliance requirements, physical challenges (e.g. repair of marine structures requiring diversion of roads and/or dewatering), heritage structures, unknown site conditions.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

PMP certification
LEED Certification

Experience in federal projects subject to federal acts, regulations, codes and standards.
Experience in the management of a Program of Real Property projects.
Experience in project delivery methods such as Design-Build or Construction Management at Risk.
