Work environment

This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff a position for a 2 year period with possibility of extension. A qualified pool will be established and may be used for future permanent or temporary vacancies.

Education:
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Note: Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
1. *Significant and recent experience in developing applications and/or maintaining existing applications.
2. **Recent experience eliciting and analyzing business requirements or business change requests for information management systems.

* Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of experience associated with the performance of duties over approximately 2 years or more
** “Recent” is defined as the performance of duties within approximately the last 18 months

Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.

Random selection may be used to identify which applicants will be assessed or appointed in this appointment process.
