Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one AR 04 position located at Natural Resources Canada in Ottawa, Ontario. A pool of fully qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada and in the Public Service, with various tenures (determinate period (including acting appointments) or indeterminate), various linguistic requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, and Bilingual (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.)), various security requirements (reliability, secret), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree in architecture from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Degree equivalency

Experience designing new homes and home renovations that utilize emerging technologies and innovation practices to improve energy performance.

Experience in leading multi-disciplinary project teams including multiple stakeholders

Experience applying building science principles to housing design issues.

Experience in housing energy analysis including the use of energy simulation tools.

Information on language requirements

Knowledge of building science and its impact on providing effective and energy efficient housing.

Knowledge of the construction industry including its current capabilities, practices and limitations.

Knowledge of emerging housing industry technologies, with regards to energy saving and renewable technologies.

Ability to manage projects and associated resources such as multidisciplinary team members.
Ability to develop and deliver presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to use common industry software packages to create housing designs that follow industry conventions.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.

Occupational Certification: Eligibility for certification as a professional architect in Canada.

Experience utilizing housing energy research findings to develop outcomes appropriate for the housing marketplace.

Knowledge of the technical and business factors related to successfully bringing new technologies to the housing market, including related barriers and ways of overcoming them.

Knowledge of Canadian home energy use profiles, and methods for assessing energy-efficient technologies.

Willing and able to undertake occasional job-related travel.
Willing and able to work overtime.
Willing and able to wear safety equipment to avoid hazards associated with research projects.
