In the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) of Indigenous Services Canada, we strive to provide access to quality health services, improve health outcomes, and support greater control of the health system by First Nations and Inuit.
We are searching for collaborative and strategic individuals who enjoy working in a dynamic and energetic environment, with a strong focus on quality client service. We are currently looking to staff various positions of the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch's Program.
This process will be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates which may be used to staff positions in various locations, with various linguistic profiles, for various tenures such as indeterminate, term and casual positions. Should the selected candidate already be a public servant, the pool may be used for acting appointments.
The intent is also to staff positions via the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program (APEP), which aims to strategically increase Aboriginal representation within the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB). As such, Organizational Needs may be applied and first consideration may be given to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal Peoples.

Successful completion of two years of secondary school or employer-approved alternatives.
Note: the employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
• A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience working in an administrative capacity in a dental office or dental care insurance environment.
Experience in using a variety of computer software applications including word processing and/or spreadsheets i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, etc.
Experience using database system to enter/retrieve, verify and validate data.
Various language requirements

Successful completion of a certificate from a recognized dental assisting program and/or successful completion of a diploma/bachelor from a recognized Canadian dental hygiene program.
Experience in working in a call centre environment.
Experience in working with a claims processing system such as HICPS (Health Information & Claims Processing Services).
ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS
In alignment with the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program (APEP) in support of increasing Aboriginal representation in areas having the most impact on program delivery and health outcomes of FNIHB’s target population, selection may be limited to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples. Aboriginal candidates must use the Affirmation of Aboriginal Affiliation Form (AAAF).

Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice as required

Hours of work: 7.5 hours/daily, between 7am to 6pm
