The anticipated work term will be from June 25, 2018 to March 31, 2021. It is expected that the student work 20 hours per week.
Stipend of $24,902 per year, but will be divided on a bi-weekly basis.

Duties

Data collection related to biomass feedstocks.
Generating and handling mass balance data related to biomass feedstocks and the biorefinery concept.
Analyzing bio-based feedstocks in terms of biorefinery concept.
Supporting scale-up and optimization of bioproducts from biomass feedstocks.
Supporting work on life cycle assessment and environmental sustainability of bio-based products in the context of clean technology and the biorefinery concept.
Assisting in the modelling using bioprocess design platforms related to the biorefinery concept.
Provide support in data input, analysis, interpretation of research data, and preparing technical reports for peer review/publication.

Currently enrolled in a PhD program at the University of Saskatchewan with specialization in biological /bioresource engineering.

Degree equivalency

Experience in generating and handling mass balance data related to biomass feedstocks and the biorefinery concept.
Experience in analyzing bio-based feedstocks in terms of biorefinery concept.
Experience in technoeconomic scale-up and optimization of bioproducts from biomass feedstocks.
Experience in life cycle assessment and environmental sustainability of bio-based products in the context of clean technology and the biorefinery concept.
Experience in modelling using bioprocess design platforms related to the biorefinery concept.
Experience in interpretation of research data and preparing technical reports for peer review/publication.

Information on language requirements

Knowledge of bioresource technoeconomic engineering, technoeconomic process design and other relevant quantitative methods in modelling of a biorefinery concept.
Knowledge of a variety of agri-based feedstocks in terms of sustainability and integration into the biorefinery concept.
Knowledge of life cycle assessment principles and methodology applied in agri-based bioproducts and bioprocesses.
Knowledge of technoeconomic engineering and simulation software, LCA software, and other relevant optimization/analytical software.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Valid driver’s licence.
Ability and willingness to work overtime, including evenings and weekends.
