In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

High school diploma and a specialized education such as mechanical technician or electromecanician.

Degree equivalency

Experience in preventive maintenance, repair/adjustment of mechanical equipment and building systems (e.g. windows, doors, ventilator, etc.).
Experience in the operation and maintenance of various mechanical systems contained in buildings (e.g. tap, ballast, magic eye, heaters, etc.).
Experience in the operation and maintenance of mechanical apparatus and hand tools.
Varied experience in different types of repairs and work. For example, locksmithing/metalwork, glass replacement, roof caulking, painting, electronics, furniture moving and assembly.
Experience using computer programs for word processing, email, and information retrieval

Knowledge of the operation and specifications of heating, air conditioning, ventilation and mechanical systems.

Ability to repair defects in various equipment and perform maintenance repairs.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally.

Certification and/or related training in one or more of the following fields: plumbing, electrical, controls, HVAC, etc.

Experience in the supervision of private contractors during repairs or projects.
Experience in the use of preventive maintenance management software for buildings.
Maintenance work experience in a scientific, laboratory or teaching environment.

Knowledge of occupational safety practices and methods in order to ensure compliance therewith, particularly those relating to Part Il of the Canada Labour Code, and to the National Building Code.

Ability to interpret plans.

Current or future needs that could enhance the way in which the organization operates or fulfills its mandate.

Conditions of employment

Valid driver's licence.
Be able and willing to be available for emergency calls.
Be able and willing to work overtime hours - necessary to respond to work reca}ls within designated time
limits.
Be able and willing to travel.
Be able and willing to lift up to 25 kilograms.
Ability to report to work during poor weather conditions.
Ability to climb ladders and work on platforms, scaffolding, lifts, ladders, etc.
Ability to work in noisy, dirty environments and in the presence of toxic fumes.
Ability and willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed, including safety footwear at all times.
