Information on accommodation for persons with disabilities
The immediate need of the resulting pool will be to staff Senior Biologist positions within the Fraser and Interior Stock Assessment and Resource Management Programs at full or part time hours and for various tenures. It may also be used for similar positions within Fisheries and Oceans in the Pacific Region.

Education:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical, or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position. (Degree equivalency)
Experience:
• Significant** experience in conducting and reporting results of quantitative analyses of scientific data.
• Experience in working collaboratively with clients or stakeholders such as other government departments or agencies, non-government organizations, First Nations or industry representatives.
• Experience leading or participating in multi-disciplinary teams focused on science based program delivery.
• Experience in managing financial and human resources.
** Significant is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed the full range of activities related to the individual experience factor

Education:
• A Masters or Doctoral degree from a recognized university with a specialization in natural, physical, or applied sciences or other specialization relevant to the position. (Degree equivalency)
Experience:
• Recent* and significant** experience in conducting and reporting on quantitative analyses of biological data related to fish population dynamics or stock assessments.
• Significant** experience in using computer software for fisheries management purposes including databases and reporting tools.
• Significant**experience in fisheries resource management including identifying problems and solutions, and communicating recommendations to decision makers on fisheries issues.
• Experience in working with First Nations.
• Experience leading or participating in multi-disciplinary teams focused on the monitoring or management of fish populations.
• Experience designing surveys to monitor and assess fisheries or fish populations.
• Experience preparing and publishing peer reviewed literature and/or technical reports.
• Experience writing code using a modern programming language (e.g. R, ADMB, etc.).
• Significant**experience in biological resource management including identifying problems, developing solutions, and communicating recommendations to decision makers.
• Experience in developing and directing stock assessments of fish populations.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Reliability Security Clearance: Reliability Status. Secret Status may be required for certain positions.
• Health Canada Medical Clearance.
• Travel to attend meetings and/or conduct field work.
• A valid BC Class 5 driver's licence.
• Oath of Affirmation.
• Attain training and maintain certifications for mandatory and departmental requirements.
** Those selected must meet and maintain the above listed conditions of employment throughout their employment.
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of fish stock management concepts and their inter-relationships with stock assessment.
• Knowledge of the fisheries, gear types, stakeholders and First Nations interests regarding Pacific Region salmon populations.
• Knowledge of fish stock assessment methods and models.
Abilities and Skills:
• Ability to manage financial and human resources.
• Ability to analyze and interpret biological data using R.
• Ability to code using a modern programming language (e.g. R, ADMB, etc.).
• Ability to analyze and interpret biological data using MS Excel.
Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• May be required to work and live in remote field camps and locations for periods up to 4 weeks annually.(may only apply to certain streams)
• May be required annually, for periods up to 6 weeks, to travel to and from meetings in support of program activities.
• May be required to work in and around rivers and lakes.
• May be required to work overtime, weekends and variable hours to meet operational needs.
• May be required to travel to the United States of America.
• May be required to fly in helicopters and small fixed wing aircraft.
