This process will be used to staff the above-mentioned position for two years in Suffield, AB. A pool of qualified candidates may be created to staff similar positions for various types of tenure (indeterminate, term, acting appointments, assignments, deployments or secondments) and various linguistic profiles in Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) and in the Department of National Defence in Suffield, AB.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in electrical or mechanical engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Experience in conducting engineering investigations (problem definition, data collection, analysis and interpretation, reporting).
2. Experience developing and leading a project.
3. Experience leading a project or work team.
4. Experience in writing engineering evaluations or preparing engineering drawings and specifications.
ASSET CERTIFICATION:
Technical Certification such as Construction Estimating and Instrumentation and Controls.
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
1. Experience working in a research, institutional or industrial setting.
2. Experience or knowledge in building digital control systems and industrial ventilation.

KNOWLEDGE:
1. Knowledge of engineering designs and developments for electrical/mechanical equipment and systems for infrastructure.
2. Knowledge of engineering standards (codes) as related to electrical/mechanical construction and maintenance of buildings.
ABILITIES:
1. Ability to write technical reports/specifications.
2. Ability to communicate effectively orally.
3. Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
4. Ability to investigate, evaluate and/or solve technical problems.
PERSONAL SUITABILITY:

ASSET KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD).

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
Must be willing and able to obtain a DND 404 (military driver's license).
Must be willing and able to work occasional overtime.
Must be willing and able to wear all employee and employer supplied safety equipment (PPE).
