Intent of the process

A pool of candidates MAY be created and MAY be used to make indeterminate appointments at the EX-03 group and level to staff current and future DFO/CCG positions. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
OR
Marine Certificate of Competency issued by the Canadian Coast Guard or Transport Canada Marine Safety or equivalent
OR
Minor War vessel or Surface Ship Command Qualification as a Regular Force Officer or Class A, Class B or Class C Reservist in the Royal Canadian Navy

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

Extensive* experience, at the executive level, in managing multi-faceted national programs and in implementing national policies in a highly operational regional context

Extensive* experience in managing a complex, decentralized organization

Extensive* experience in dealing with politically sensitive issues and providing strategic advice to senior management or officials on program implementation

Extensive* experience in interaction and negotiation with diverse clients, unions, non-government organizations (NGOs) and other stakeholders

Extensive* experience in managing human, materiel and financial resources.

Note: *Extensive experience is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities, which could normally be acquired over a period of approximately 3 years

EXPERIENCE:

Extensive experience in managing the delivery of a marine-related program

Experience in managing major crisis and emergency situations
