Duties

Under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager, the Senior Civil Engineering Technologist provides technical engineering assistance on Airport and Infrastructure projects and participates in the planning, design and implementation of airport construction works.

The work includes, planning, development, implementation and management of the civil, structural, architectural and specialized airport infrastructure. The person must be familiar with Transport Canada's Norm TP-312, as well as Canadian Aviation Regulations.

More specifically, the technologist will have the following responsibilities:
- Contribute to the feasibility, analysis and studies of airport construction and maintenance projects in accordance with Transport Canada regulations;
- Collect and process surveying field data with total station and GPS;
- The preparation of plans and specifications in various airport projects and comment on the projects presented by the expert consultants;
- Develop civil infrastructure design in AutoCAD and Civil 3D;
- Perform site inspections, site layout and quantity measurements;
- Develop and interpret building drawings and specifications;
- Communicates with the project team, contractors, consultants;

Intent of the process

The intention is to staff one position in Dorval on a permanent basis by August 2018.

A pool may be established in order to staff identical or similar positions within PSPC whose duration, linguistic profile, location, and/or security requirements could vary depending on the position to be staffed.

Education:
Diploma of College Studies (DCS) in a field related to the position or an acceptable combination of experience, education and/or training.

Degree equivalency

You must possess significant experience* in the four following activities:
1. Building site surveillance
2. Paving work
3. Airport design
4. Coordinating construction projects

*Significant experience will be assessed based on the depth, breadth, diversity of the work performed and the level of autonomy demonstrated.

Bilingual - Imperative (BB-/BB-)

Knowledge:
Knowledge of project planning and project management
Extensive knowledge of TP-312 (Aerodromes Standards and Recommended Practices).

Professional working experience within a public or semi-public organization
Paving experience in the airport sector
Experience preparing and using drawing software (Autocad)
Experience preparing and using 3D civil drawing software
Experience in surveying
Member of the Ordre des technologues professionnels du Québec and hold its licence

Operational Requirements:
Willingness and ability to work overtime occasionally when required
Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to remote areas which are not easily accessible by plane or car for short term periods up to several weeks at a time
Willingness and ability to circulate safely on a construction site

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Willingness and ability to work overtime.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
Be willing and able to travel aboard small aircrafts.
