EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma and completion of an acceptable training program in electronics technology or a combination of education and/or experience focused on radio frequency systems, subsystems and technology.
EXPERIENCE
- Recent and significant* experience in modifying and testing of radio frequency (RF) systems such as receiving and transmitting systems.
*Recent and significant experience is defined as depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of those duties over a total period of 5 years within the last 8 years.
- Recent and significant* experience working with people of different technical backgrounds, such as colleagues, military members, contractors or clients.

- Experience in designing, developing, and testing digital circuits and systems.
- Experience in the set-up, interface, and operation of signal generation, data collection and analysis equipment such as signal generators and spectrum analysers.
- Experience in planning, designing, developing, coordinating and conducting experiments to collect data or to test equipment.
- Experience programming using common tools such as LabVIEW, C, MATLAB, Simulink, and Python, or similar.

Knowledge of electronic theory and design techniques.
Knowledge of RF system principles, RF systems and equipment.
Knowledge of RF signal data collection and RF measurement techniques.
ABILITIES and SKILLS
Ability to understand and evaluate specifications and characteristics of RF equipment and components.
Ability to analyse and resolve technical problems and provide technical advice and recommendations.
Ability to program software and develop graphical user interfaces (GUIs) to control and operate laboratory systems and instruments using common tools (e.g. LabVIEW, C, MATLAB, Simulink, Python).
Ability to prepare accurate documentation describing subsystem development, test plans, test results and operating procedures.
Ability to manage, operate and maintain laboratory/test facilities and all associated equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and prioritize workload.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
ASSET EDUCATION
Community College diploma in Electronic Technology or a certified Electronic Engineering Technologist designation.
EXPERIENCE
Experience with microcontrollers and FPGAs.
Experience in PCB design from concept to schematic to PCB layout to population to testing.
Experience in automation of test set-ups.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of Radar Theory and Principles.
Knowledge of digital serial protocols (e.g. RS-45, RS-232).
- Willingness to travel to trial sites and to remote field sites for extended periods of time.
- Willingness to engage in continuing studies to maintain/update the professional skills required for the position.
- Willingness to fly in DND, Transport Canada and NRC aircraft for flight trial experiments.
- Ability to obtain and retain a DND 404 driving permit.
