Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of English Essential and an RCMP Top Secret security clearance.

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Notification regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Should a Public Service (PS) employee be found qualified and selected for appointment, notification regarding the PS appointment will be posted accordingly on www.jobs.gc.ca.

EDUCATION:
E1: Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
EX1: *Significant experience in the electronics technology field, with emphasis on security systems.
EX2: *Significant experience in the installation, programming and maintenance of technical equipment, such as computerized access control systems, intrusion detection systems and closed circuit video systems.
EX3: **Recent experience in electronic security such as software applications, security networks and specialized interface hardware.
EX4: **Recent experience in electronic system performance analysis, problem analysis and documentation.

*Significant experience is defined as a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
**Recent refers to experience gained within the last five years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET CERTIFICATION:
A-C1: Certification in either alarm or Voice/data/video disciplines.

ASSET EXPERIENCE:
A-EX1: Experience and/or training in locksmithing, including the installation and service of physical security hardware such as mortise locksets, cylindrical locksets, electric strikes and exit devices.

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - All applicants for positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough security clearance process which includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), reference checks, previous employment, on-line activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use.

Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Willingness and ability to travel.
Willingness and ability to work outdoors in various inclement weather conditions.
Willingness and ability to climb ladders and to work at height.
Willingness and ability to work in confined spaces.
