Work environment

Lac La Biche has a population of about 15,000 and is located approximately 220 kilometers northeast of the provincial capital of Edmonton, on the southern shore of Lac la Biche. The community is supported by the oil and gas, logging, forestry, agriculture, and commercial fishing. Lac La Biche is home to the Lac La Biche Golf Course, numerous lakes and campgrounds, a large recreation centre including an indoor jogging track, and an aquatic centre. Lac La Biche has three public schools, 1 separate school and a francophone school. Portage College is also located in Lac La Biche. Intent of the process

This process will initially be used to staff 1 CR-04 position on a full-time indeterminate basis. Qualified pools of candidates will be established and may be used to staff CR-04 and CR-05 positions within the Lac La Biche Detachment.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of two years of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.*

*Candidates invited to an interview will be required to bring proof of their education credentials, in the form of a diploma or official transcript.

Degree equivalency

• Experience in the provision of clerical support services, including three of the following: data entry, preparing correspondence, ordering office supplies, filing, or processing mail.
• Experience using word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Experience providing service to internal or external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.

• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

• Successful completion of secondary school education.

Degree equivalency

• Experience in data entry.
• Experience providing financial support services (services may include, but are not limited to, verifying, correcting and reconciling financial claims, controlling and monitoring petty cash, preparing financial status reports, etc.).
• Experience maintaining a law enforcement database such as: Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), Police Information Retrieval Systems (PIRS), Police Reporting and Occurrence System (PROS), Automated Criminal Intelligence Information System (ACIIS), National Criminal Data Bank (NCDB), Evidence and Reports III (E&R III).
• Experience providing records management services (services may include, but are not limited to, indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retaining, archiving or destroying data).
• Experience transcribing from audio cassettes or digital media.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a RCMP Security Clearance throughout their employment. Positions filled will have security clearance requirements at the following levels: RCMP Reliability Status, Secret or Top Secret. This requires a Security/Reliability Interview, and a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, reference, etc.
