EDUCATION

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
NOTES:
1.Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience.
2.It is a recognized educational institution (e.g., community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution
3 At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met via this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager

**An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience is defined as a minimum of a High School diploma plus a minimum of 5 years of IM/IT experience.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

Experience working as a Network Administrator installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting one or more of the following, in a windows server network environment:
-Servers
-Peripherals
-Print Queues
-Software

OR

Experience designing, implementing, managing or troubleshooting internetworking devices.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET EXPERIENCE

Experience using encryption devices, such as TACLANE, KIV-7.

Experience working in a high security environment.

Experience in working within an enterprise network environment.

Experience in creating and maintaining technical documentation.

Experience in working in a Network Operations Center (NOC).

Experience in providing incident handling (conducting analysis, investigations, protection, detection and reaction).

Experience in creating, writing and debugging scripts.

Experience in analyzing network traffic and protocols.

Experience in providing network security support and working in a military IT/IS environment.

Experience in working within a Government of Canada network environment.
