DISPUTE RESOLUTION BRANCH
The mandate of the Dispute Resolution Branch is to resolve disputes regarding federal transportation services, rates, fees and charges as well as to ensure Canada's national transportation system is accessible to all persons, including persons with disabilities. The Agency also executes its dispute resolution mandate through the development of resource tools and regulatory and non-regulatory standards and by monitoring compliance with the standards. Analysts support the mandate by resolving disputes through facilitation or mediation, and by supporting the Members through the adjudication process, as well as by developing or updating standards and resource tools and by monitoring compliance with these standards.
DETERMINATIONS AND COMPLIANCE BRANCH
The mandate of the Determinations and Compliance Branch is to provide approvals, issue licences, permits and certificates of fitness, and make decisions on a wide range of matters involving federal air, rail and marine transportation. Analysts contribute to the success of these programs by providing expert advice on rail liability insurance, the evaluation of Canadian airline ownership and control and on marine coasting trade. Analysts support the mandate by providing assistance regarding the negotiation and administration of air transport agreements, by providing expertise on regulatory projects, and by conducting other complex analysis involving corporate and financial information for rail and air.
