The immediate need is to staff one term position in Ottawa, Ontario until March 31, 2019 (with the possibility of extension). A qualified pool may be established to staff similar positions with various tenures (temporary or indeterminate), and conditions of employment within Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a Certificate of Qualification as a Machinist or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience using conventional machining equipment with particular emphasis on prototyping and small lot manufacturing to tight tolerances.
Experience setting-up and operating CNC lathe and milling machines.

Information on language requirements
Knowledge of welding process specifications, and the use of welding gages.
Knowledge in proper machining methods for manual mills and lathes.
Knowledge of set up and programming of CNC Horizontal/Vertical Milling machines and of NC code(G codes).
Ability to review and interpret drawings, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces.
Ability to operate and maintain a manual vertical mill and lathe following the proper machining methods.
Ability to accurately verify dimensions of machined parts for conformance to specifications.
Ability to create jigs, fixtures, and tools to support manufacturing production.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
