College diploma in electronics or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
Experience working in electronics.
Experience in using Microsoft Excel.
Experience in using technical drawing software such as AutoCad or SolidWorks.
Experience in the use, maintenance and reconditioning of specialized aquatic science equipment in the field and in the laboratory.
Scientific work experience in sampling projects at sea.
Experience working in a physical parameter calibration laboratory.
Laboratory work experience in electronic equipment maintenance.
Work experience in the use of passive or active underwater acoustic units.
Work experience in the design, installation and maintenance of oceanographic moorings and/or scientific buoys.
Experience in the use of modern data dissemination technologies (e.g. telemetry, data transmission systems in real time such as buoy-mounted satellite communication systems and cabled ocean observatories).
Experience in operating small vessels at sea.

Extended periods of work in the field and at sea (up to eight weeks).
Must undergo a medical examination.
Be willing and able to work for extended periods in a cold and humid environment, such as vessels during cold seasons.
Be willing and able to work in confined spaces.
Have a valid driver’s licence.
Willingness and ability to travel by various modes of transportation, sometimes in remote regions.
A written examination may be administered.
An interview may be administered.
