A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within the Department of Public Services and Procurement Canada across Canada with various tenures such as indeterminate or term. The pool can be used to staff positions with various linguistic profiles and various security requirements.

Education:
Post-secondary school diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology or other area related to the position and two (2) years of experience on the labor market in relation to the duties of the position.
Experiences:
Experience in reviewing and preparing reports, specifications, drawings, inspection reports for heavy Civil Infrastructure.
Experience collecting data, measuring heavy civil infrastructure components, and performing inspections on heavy civil engineering infrastructure.
Experience in planning, scheduling, and managing routine maintenance contracts for electrical and mechanical equipment associated with dams or hydro power stations.
Experience in the delivery and quality assurance of low value and low complexity repairs to dams or other heavy civil engineering infrastructure.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
Information on language requirements
Knowledge:
Knowledge of construction costs, methods, and materials.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of dam safety and public safety around dams.
Knowledge of dam mechanical or electrical inspection procedures and methods.
Knowledge of routine maintenance tasks needed to ensure reliability of dams and their flow control equipment.

Asset Qualifications:
Experience in quality control or quality assurance on construction sites.
Experience as a Dam Keeper or Lock Master on a canal or waterway.
Experience as a trades person or labourer working on bridges, dams, highways, or other heavy civil engineering infrastructure.
Professional accreditation as a Certified Engineering Technologist.
Operational Requirements:
Willing and able to work overtime when needed and on short notice.
Willing and able to work on construction sites, from heights, around fast-flowing water, and walk or climb over rough terrain.
Willing and able to work in tight or confined spaces, work in a stooped or crouched position, work outdoors under various weather conditions and able to lift equipment (40 lbs).
Willing and able to be exposed to noise, dust, and fumes from normal traffic on dam decks and from construction equipment during repair and construction projects.
Reliability Status security clearance
Other Conditions of Employment:
Willing and able to maintain a driver’s license.
Willing and able to wear boots, hard hat, reflective clothing, and other safety equipment to suit site-specific hazards.
Willing and able to travel, by car, train or plane, to project sites including out of town overnight stays up to a week at a time.
You must provide proof of your education credentials and proof of citizenship.
