Job duties:
As a Marine Engineer you would have the responsibility of operating and maintaining our ship’s engines, electrical systems and machinery to ensure the comfort and safety of every person on board the vessel. You would be employed by DND as a public servant.
As a Marine Engineer with us you would be responsible for:
• All auxiliary equipment aboard ships, such as boilers, steering and deck machinery, motors, pumps, generators and condensers:
o To operate main engines, machinery
o To stand engine room watch, monitoring and noting performance
o To inspect and conduct maintenance and emergency repairs
• Oversee and co-ordinate the activities of the engine room crew
• Maintain records and prepare reports on engine performance and failures.
Work Site Environment:
• Combination of office, shop and shipboard environments
The purpose of this process is to build an inventory of individuals to fill current and future vacancies in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Victoria/Esquimalt, British Columbia. This process may be used to fill other vacancies.
