Work environment

The position is located at 1426 St. Joseph Boulevard, Ottawa, Ontario.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB and a Top Secret security clearance.

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Notification regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Should a Public Service (PS) employee be found qualified and selected for appointment, notification regarding the PS appointment will be posted accordingly on www.jobs.gc.ca.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Degree equivalency

Significant* recent** technical enterprise experience with information management systems in configuring, evaluating, testing, supporting, maintaining and troubleshooting.
Significant* recent** enterprise experience in the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Windows Server operating systems and 1 of either UNIX/Linux or Windows Desktop operating systems.
Recent** experience providing client support for IT systems.
Recent** enterprise experience in the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of the following technologies: Active Directory, Virtualization Platforms.
Recent** experience in the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of at least 3 of the following 6 networking technologies: Firewalls, VPNs, Switches, VLANs, QoS, and Routers.
Recent** experience with SQL statements and relational databases.

Significant* recent** experience refers to at least two years of experience within the last five years

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - All applicants for positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough security clearance process which includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), reference checks, previous employment, on-line activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use."
