Intent of the process

Anticipatory. The immediate need is to staff one permanent full time position. A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future vacancies (including similar positions, on a temporary or permanent basis, on a casual basis, at full or part time hours) in Prince George, BC.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience in using the Police Records Information Management Environment (PRIME) RMS.
Experience in working in a law enforcement environment.
Experience in analyzing and interpreting policy or legislation and making recommendations related to information management systems.
Experience in providing management with functional advice, guidance and recommendations.
Recent and significant* experience in UCR (Uniform Crime Reporting).
Recent and significant* experience in using word processing and spreadsheet software.

*Recent and significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with performance of the duties on a continuous basis over a period of 24 months within approximately the last 60 months.

Experience developing standard operating procedures, guidelines or reference guides to support implementation of policies, legislation, and best practices.

Preference may be given to RCMP employees impacted/affected by work force adjustment.

Conditions of employment

Various levels of security clearance/reliability are required for these positions, including some positions requiring an RCMP Top Secret clearance.
Willingness to travel by motor vehicle and air into remote communities (occasionally).
Possession of a valid BC Driver's Licence.

Other information

Candidates from outside the public service will be responsible for all travel costs associated with this selection process.

NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc . As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.

To be granted RCMP security clearance and to maintain the ethical standards of the RCMP, candidates must not be, or have been, involved in certain criminal activities*, have been dishonourably discharged, have pending personal bankruptcies, etc. For additional information and a complete list of activities, please visit http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/qualifications-and-requirements and read the section titled “To apply as a police officer, you must not have”, as well as the applicable considerations. The security requirements are the same for all employees of the RCMP.

You MUST clearly demonstrate in writing how you meet the Essential Education, and Experience requirements. Provide examples and describe the work/duties you have performed. Failure to do so may result in your application not being considered further during the screening process.

Any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements, and organizational needs may be used for the screening of applications. Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.

Practical and/or standardized tests may be administered for screening and/or assessment purposes.

Random selection may be used to identify which applicants will be assessed or appointed in this appointment process.
