Intent of the process

There is an immediate need to staff one (1) indeterminate position in Shilo, Manitoba. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions of various tenures.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education/Occupational Certification

Possession of a valid Manitoba or Inter-Provincial Journeyman’s Certificate as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Truck and Transport Mechanic

Possession of a valid vehicle air brakes operator’s qualification (commercial air brakes)

Experience
Recent* experience working as a mechanic in the repair and maintenance of commercial automotive and/or heavy duty equipment.

*Recent experience is defined as “experience acquired within the last 5 years”.

Occupational Certification
Possession of a valid Manitoba or Inter-Provincial Journeyman’s Certificate as an Agricultural Equipment Technician or Automotive Service Technician

Manitoba Ozone Protection Industry Association Inc. (MOPIA) Technician Certification - Asset

Ability
Basic computer skills, including the ability to operate the Microsoft Office suite of programs

Ability to locate, read, interpret, and/or apply technical information, e.g. service manuals, drawings, and related publications

Ability to use and interpret mechanical and/or electrical test equipment

Ability to perform maintenance as described on qualifications/certifications

Organizational Needs

Operational Requirements

Willing and able to work overtime as pre-authorized

Willing and able to work standby or call-back, may be called in for emergency repairs

Willing and able to work from heights

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance - possession of or ability to obtain and retain Secret Security Clearance

Possession of a valid (unrestricted and non-graduated) Canadian provincial or territorial driver's license such as a Class 5 License in Manitoba

Must wear CSA approved safety footwear at all times and other personal protective equipment (PPE) as required

Possession of, or, ability to obtain/retain a DND 404.

An acceptable clean driver’s abstract dated no later than 90 days before the date of appointment which a candidate is notified of being considered for appointment
