The intent of this process is to staff determinate positions in the Social, Health and Labour field and in the Economic Statistics field of Statistics Canada. However a pool of fully and/or partially qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, security and linguistic requirements such as English Essential, French Essential and Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary school program with acceptable specialization in social science (1), statistics, library/archival work or a law-related field.
OR
An acceptable combination (2) of education, training and/or experience.
(1) "Social science" includes: economics, political science, sociology, accounting, commerce, business administration, anthropology, demography, history, psychology, geography, criminology, agriculture, environment and other disciplines associated with social science. "Library/archival work" includes gallery and museum type functions.
(2) Acceptable combination:
- Successful completion of 1 year post-secondary education and statistical related work experience normally acquired over 1 year (full-time); or
- Successful completion of high school and statistical related work experience normally acquired over 2 years (full-time).
EXPERIENCE:
Recent* experience in manipulating data to create statistical tabulations.
Recent* experience in using SAS, SPSS, STATA, Python, R or another statistical software to retrieve and/or manipulate data from large data files or databases.
*Recent experience is defined as being normally acquired during the past five (5) years.
EDUCATION:
Post-secondary courses in any of the following:
-Data mining;
-Data warehousing;
-Business intelligence and data visualizations;
-Data analytics;
-Machine learning methodologies
-Geo-spatial analysis.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in using Power BI to retrieve and/or manipulate data from large data files or databases.
