AMENDMENT TO CLOSING DATE
The research work related to this position meets two AAFC national priorities: “Enhancing economic benefits for all stakeholders” and “Enhancing the environmental performance of livestock production, in particular the dairy sector”. The main objective of the research work related to this position is to evaluate the effects of different nutritional strategies and feeding management practices on enteric methane emissions and performance of dairy cows.
As part of a research project, the candidate will be responsible of:
- Participate in the realization of an animal trial
- Sample collection and processing for the realization of chemical analyses
- Performing laboratory analyses
- Data compilation
- Interpretation of results and writing a final report.
The Sherbrooke research and development centre is the only with the mandate to work on dairy production. In this regard, we work with our partners (dairy farmers, industry, etc.) to optimize milk production while respecting the environment and animal welfare. As part of the research work related to this position, the challenge is to provide our partners with innovations and performance qualities to strengthen the competitiveness of the Canadian dairy sector.

Reliability Status security clearance - Each student hired through the Research Affiliate Program (RAP) must meet the security requirements of the position as a condition of employment, and therefore will be asked by the hiring organization to complete security-relevant documents.
- Ability and willingness to control allergies, through use of personal protective equipment or medication in order not to impinge on tasks to be performed.
- With appropriate safety precautions in place, able and willing to work in laboratory, greenhouse, field and/or animal rearing facility environments for extended periods at a time; able and willing to work outdoors under various weather conditions and under normal safety precautions able and willing to work with hazardous materials.

- Must consent to work with large animals such as dairy cows; collect different nature of samples (feeds, urine, feces, blood, ruminal content, etc.); manipulate chemical products and organic solvents in the laboratory
- Must consent to work flexible working hours including week-ends and stats holidays
