Duties

Reporting to the President of the Agency, and as a member of the executive team, your leadership will have a significant impact on the effective functioning and well-being of the organization. In a fast-paced environment, you will lead a human resources team that is innovative and solution-oriented. Specifically, you will be accountable for providing strategic direction and corporate leadership for the delivery of a full range of HR policies, programs, services and support in talent attraction and acquisition, HR planning and data analytics, classification and organizational design, performance and talent management, learning, labour relations, compensation liaison, HR systems, employment equity and official languages.

In the Federal Public Service, Senior Management is referred to as the Executive group. This group is divided into five levels from EX-01 to EX-05. This advertisement is for a position at the EX-02 group and level.

Intent of the process

Eligible employees may be considered first for deployment.

This is a bilingual position requiring a high level of proficiency in English and French.

A pool may be established and used for various appointment types and tenures (indeterminate, deployment, term, acting, secondment, assignment) within the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). All federal organizations listed in Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) may use this staffing process to appoint a candidate to its organization in a similar position if a pool is created.

The position is located in Waterloo, however, if a suitable candidate cannot be identified for Waterloo, consideration may be given to candidates willing to work in Toronto or Ottawa. Please indicate in your application from which location(s) you are willing to work.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution

Degree equivalency

Significant experience in leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams of human resources professionals

Experience in collaborating and maintaining partnerships, engaging key stakeholders and managing large scale change initiatives

Significant experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management on complex and highly sensitive human resources management issues

Experience in managing human and financial resources

Asset Qualifications:

Degree equivalency

Significant experience in leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams of human resources professionals in the federal public sector

Experience at the executive level in collaborating and maintaining partnerships, engaging key stakeholders and managing large scale change initiatives

Significant experience at the executive level in providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management on complex and highly sensitive human resources management issues
