In order to achieve greenhouse gas reduction targets, generate energy savings and improve the sustainability of assets and raise awareness of building users:
• Act as the base coordinator in energy efficiency, provide advice and guidance to colleagues, consultants, clients, working groups and committees, in the development of projects, standards, guidelines, designs and requirements for engineering projects
• Review and evaluate the energy performance of buildings that are monitored from the compilation of energy bills and public utilities
• Provide energy efficiency advice to ensure that projects are carried out in accordance with project objectives, legislation and base commitments
• Coordinate energy efficiency studies and improvement projects at Departmental facilities and agencies; coordinate the work of multidisciplinary project teams
• Prepare and present reports on energy consumption and costs
• Conduct quality control reviews of documents prepared by external consultants in the context of energy audits and projects of various complexity and scope
• Maintain business relationship with Real Property’s service provider with the goal of achieving Government of Canada priorities
• Share information and maintain regular contact with National Defence Headquarters (Ottawa) and Regional counterparts
• Keep his/her knowledge up-to-date as well as the documentation and technology needed to practice in the field of energy efficiency

This pool of candidates may be used to staff positions with similar qualifications, with various language requirements, various conditions of employment and/or various tenures including term appointments, indeterminate appointments, acting appointments and/or assignments.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
• Completion of post-secondary education specializing in relevant technical sciences OR potential to complete the post-secondary education specializing in relevant technical sciences program by end of June 2018 OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION (one or more):
• Certified Engineering Technologist (CET);
• Certified Engineering Technician Certificate;
• Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
• Energy Manager in Training (EMIT)
ASSET EXPERIENCE
• Experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
• Experience with BOMA BEST, LEED OR equivalent
• Experience in monitoring, tracking and reporting on energy consumption
• Experience in reading and interpreting building design drawings
• Experience in assessing the potential application of renewable energy technologies
• Experience in current best practices in regards to building envelope energy improvement
• Experience in writing technical specifications
• Experience in interpreting and implementing the results of energy audits
• Experience in promoting and conducting educational and behavioral change initiatives generally or specifically with energy and conservation promotion

• Requirement to travel using various modes of transportation including but not limited to: logging road via automobile, truck, boat, plane, or helicopter in order to access remote sites throughout the areas supported by the assigned base or wing assigned
• Requirement to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when participating in site visits throughout the region
Candidates will be required to pay for their own travel expenses when invited for assessment.
