It is not required to submit a cover letter for this selection process. Duties

Key duties include:

- Analyze, assess and interpret Immigration and Refugee Protection Act information contained in databases to validate status of individuals, determine if there may be a violation of the legislation and if further examination by the CBSA is required;

- Maintain the CBSA’s national repository of immigration warrants and previously deported persons files by ensuring legal and procedural parameters are met and transfer them to the Canada Police Information Centre;

- Gather information collected from tip calls, evaluate if sufficient info has been collected to warrant dissemination to the appropriate investigative offices;

- Plan, develop and implement different approaches and investigative concepts and methodologies to locate clients. If located authenticate identity, compile information using appropriate interviewing practices and use judgment to evaluate information. Verify and substantiate information, enter new or amended information into databases and verify compliance with terms and conditions.

- Identify cases of suspected fraud and refers them to local inland enforcement offices for further investigation;

- Process requests received under the Access to Information Act.

Work environment

The Warrant Response Centre is a 24/7 operation that is responsible for providing support to regional CBSA officers and external law enforcement partners throughout North America, in relation to immigration status, immigration warrants and previously deported persons as per the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Additionally it is responsible for the Border Watch Line which allows the public to report suspected cross border violations of all pieces of legislation enforced by the CBSA.

As part of the Alternatives to Detention program, a National Alternatives to Detention Monitoring Centre will be created and managed by the Warrant Response Centre. It will provide compliance monitoring as well as technical support related to the program.

Intent of the process

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established from this selection process and may be used to staff similar positions for various tenure, linguistic and security (reliability and secret) profiles, within CBSA.

Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Criminology or Political Science.

Degree equivalency

Experience using the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) database system.

Experience using the Global Case Management System (GCMS).

Experience working in a 24-hour shift work environment.

Experience working in the Federal Government.

Experience working at the Canada Border Services Agency.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance - Obtain and Maintain Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) access.
Successful candidates may be required to work a variable shift schedule. This is a shift work operation, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including weekends and statutory holidays. Applicants should consider that the onus is on employees to report to these shifts regardless of the availability of public transit during off hours or inclement weather at any time of the year.

Successful candidates may be required to work overtime, often on short notice.

This position requires the use of a headset for prolonged periods and constant exposure to a computer screen. Work conditions require adapting to change, dealing with stress and dealing with any challenging situations that may arise.
