Intent of the process

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative), various language requirements and profiles (Bilingual (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.)), various security requirements (reliability, secret), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation from a post secondary institution with a degree relevant to the position and work experience in a relevant area.

Degree equivalency

Experience with conducting field research on insects or trees.
Experience with identifying forest pest insects.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized institution with a Masters degree (MSc) in forestry or entomology.

Degree equivalency

Experience in the preparation and publication of scientific reports.
Experience with sampling techniques for the collection of forest insects.
Experience in the design of scientific experiments.
Experience with safe use and operation of chain saws.
Experience with the collection and analysis of geospatial data.
Experience with the analysis and presentation of scientific data using the R statistical computing environment.

Knowledge of methods and techniques used in the study of forest pest insects.
Knowledge of forest entomology and forest ecology.
Knowledge of computer software packages for the collection, analysis and presentation of scientific data.
Knowledge of health and safety requirements in a laboratory and field setting.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing in English .
Ability to communicate effectively orally in English.
Ability to manage data and research records.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

International and national travel as required.
Valid drivers licence.
Field work in remote locations for extended periods of time.
Pre-Employment and Periodic Medical Assessment Required.
