Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill a position under Stream 1:
Stream 1: Senior Environmental Specialist - Contaminated Sites Management
Stream 2: Senior Environmental Specialist - Environmental Impact Assessment

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff similar permanent and/or temporary vacancies in Vancouver, BC.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with an acceptable degree from a recognized university with specialization in environmental studies/management or the physical or biological sciences, or some other science-related degree relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS for Stream 1 and Stream 2 positions:
Experience leading and mentoring of scientific and technical staff
Experience working with First Nations
Knowledge of the legislative self-government models available to British Columbia First Nations
Knowledge of waste management practices
Knowledge of design and implementation of Risk-based Assessments

EXPERIENCE:
Experience in project management, including financial and human resources management. (Streams 1 & 2)
STREAM 1: Extensive* and recent** experience managing or conducting large environmental assessments and remediation projects with a value of $500,000 or more under Canadian federal or provincial legislation.
STREAM 2: Extensive* and recent** experience managing or conducting environmental impacts assessments.

"Extensive* and recent** experience" is defined as the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of the various complex activities related to this position and which are normally acquired over a 5 year period or greater, within the past 10 years.

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of federal and provincial environmental legislation and regulations.
