Duties

Do you like a challenge when you come to work? If so, the position of a Benefits Analyst could be the perfect opportunity for you. You will receive a high volume of incoming calls from our clients and stakeholders in a fast paced call centre environment. Due to the high volume of requests you will learn how to prioritize your day as you will have continuous interruptions, responding to inquiries over the phone and processing fax requests. This could be an opportunity for you to develop new skills and further develop skills you already have; such skills include attention to detail, improved computer skills, communication skills, conflict management, workload management and prioritization.

Non-Insured Health Benefits is a unit of Indigenous Services Canada which is the Federal department responsible for helping First Nations and Inuit people of Canada to maintain and improve their health, while respecting individual choices and circumstances.

Intent of the process

As a result of the potential and possible use of the selection process and subsequent pool , we encourage all employees seeking this type of opportunity to apply.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff identical or similar temporary or permanent positions, actings, assignments/secondments or deployments in Saskatchewan.

The intent is to staff via the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program, which aims to strategically increase Aboriginal representation within First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. As such, Organizational Needs may be applied and first consideration may be given to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples.

Education:
- Successful completion of Secondary School or employer-approved alternatives (a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience).

Degree equivalency

Experience:
- Experience handling client inquiries
- Experience researching information and resolving problems with a client service focus
- Experience in using one or more of the following: word processing software, spreadsheet applications, on line data retrieval applications

- In alignment with the APEP in support of strategically increasing Aboriginal representation in areas having the most impact on program delivery and health outcomes of FNIHB’s target population, selection may be limited to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples. Aboriginal candidates must use the Affirmation of Aboriginal Affiliation Form (AAAF).

The term Aboriginal cultural competency includes knowledge of Aboriginal peoples and refers to the ability to work effectively with Aboriginal peoples from different cultural backgrounds, or in settings where several cultures coexist. It includes the ability to communicate and understand the culture, and behaviours of other individuals and groups, and to make appropriate recommendations.
