Finance Specialist

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to fill positions on a temporary basis. A qualified pool of candidates will be established and may be used to staff current and future indeterminate and temporary vacancies for similar positions.

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience in accounting operations such as auditing, accounts received or accounts payable.
Experience in using computers and software including a computerized financial system, word processing and spreadsheet programs.

Knowledge of Correctional Services Canada's Mission.
Knowledge of accounting methods, practices and principles.
Knowledge of legislation and policies of central agencies related to financial management.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics; OR possession of the Government of Canada Financial Management Certificate.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Significant experience (at least 1 year) in accounting operations such as auditing, accounts receivable or accounts payable.
Experience using the inmate accounting system.
Experience in cost accounting.
Experience in working within a correctional facility/institutional setting.
