As part of a program, the incumbent will lead independent research projects (under the guidance of Research Scientist) focused on Ruminant Nutrition.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading independent research projects (under guidance of AAFC Research Scientist) focused on nutritional manipulation to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions from beef and dairy cattle
- Design experiments to improve forage utilization, maximize feed efficiency and animal performance in beef cattle.
- Manage laboratory and farm operations related to the program.
- Preparation of reports, proposals and research papers.
- Maintain quality control and troubleshooting to ensure accurate results.
- Provision of guidance and supervision to technicians, students and post-doctoral fellows.
- Provision of advice to research scientists, management and industry partners.

Graduation with an acceptable Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in Ruminant Nutrition.

Experience providing technical support and leading projects in a research or laboratory environment.
Experience working with beef and/or dairy cattle and conducting metabolism trials.
Experience working on in-vitro systems to measure feed digestibility such as batch culture experiments and/or rumen simulation technique (RUSITEC).
Experience collecting and performing analysis on feed and digesta samples.
