Intent of the process

Anticipatory. The immediate need is for a full time permanent position. A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future vacancies (including similar positions, on a term, indeterminate, or acting basis, at full or part time hours) within the area of selection.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of one year and may be extended.

The intent of this process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates inclusive of Public Service (PS) employees and Civilian Members (CM); for various positions with various tenures, various security profiles and various language requirements.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member. Notification regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation from a recognized university with a Ph.D. in Psychology. The Division Psychologist must either be currently registered as a Psychologist in the province of British Columbia or have the necessary education and training to qualify for such registration. Normally this would mean a doctoral level degree plus acceptable internship training.

Degree equivalency

Eligibility for Registration as a Registered Psychologist in British Columbia.

Experience providing psychological services in an occupational health setting.
Experience in psychological assessment, crisis intervention, and counseling.

Knowledge of a wide variety of psychological instruments to assess personality, aptitude and psychopathy.
Knowledge of counseling techniques related to individual, couples, family and groups.
Knowledge of public and private sources offering mental health and related services.

Ability to administer a comprehensive occupational health psychology program.
Ability to research/review and analyze information and provide advice, design policy or implement recommendations.
Ability to provide assessment services.
Ability to communicate orally.
Ability to communicate in writing.

The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, a Top Secret security clearance. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

You MUST clearly demonstrate in writing how you meet the Essential Education, and Experience requirements. Provide examples and describe the work/duties you have performed. Failure to do so may result in your application not being considered further during the screening process.

Any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements, and organizational needs may be used for the screening of applications. If you meet these criteria, please clearly demonstrate how you meet them in writing.
