Intent of the process

A pool of fully qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada, with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various linguistic requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, and Bilingual (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.)), various security requirements (reliability, secret), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Provincial (Ontario) certificate of qualification in one of the following trades: Operating Engineer Third Class, Electrician, Refrigeration Mechanic, Plumber, Pipefitter or Industrial Mechanic- Millwright

Degree equivalency

Experience in maintenance and operation of building Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), low-pressure boilers and related equipment (i.e. centrifugal pumps, chemical pumps, pneumatics and control valves)

Experience in troubleshooting refrigeration systems

Information on language requirements

Knowledge of testing parameters for water treatment and determining corrective action
Knowledge to perform preventative maintenance in a safe manner
Knowledge of the basic components on a refrigeration system.
Knowledge in working with computer associated software including Outlook, Excel, MS Word and Building Management System software

Ability to communicate effectively in writing
Ability to communicate orally
Ability to read building plans and blue prints
Ability to solder and weld
Ability to follow simple programs in GCL (General Computer/Control Language)
